Friday wrap-up 2/10

Want to start off the blog this week by saying that WE ARE HERE to make the collaboration of and communication between local businesses easier and more meanigful. This includes all of the campaigns and programs we do throughout the year, and the membership offerings we have. With that said, we ask that any MHBA members with events you want help promoting, legislation that means something to you, assistance with finding good business services, or even just questions about membership or what MHBA is working on, please REACH OUT to us! We want to hear from you. While we have been able to do a LOT with a little, we still are only 5 people and need members of our business community to be communicating with us. See our staff page to find out more about us!

This week, we've been educating ourselves about a few bills in the legislature meant to increase business options and strengthen our local economy. We'll have more information published next week on this blog about these efforts and our view on them.

We're also working on a very exciting proposal for the State of Colorado in which we'll have the opportunity to work on state-wide local food issues! We'll keep you posted on how it turns in our favor.

Valerie participated in a sub-committee for Denver Seeds Task force which is prioritizing the questions that will be used in our local food system assessment later this year. It'll be an incredibly impactful analysis once finished.

Melanie continues to support our member businesses through in person meetings every day. As we roll out our new membership structure, each business will have the opportunity to participate at a higher level (and subsequently get more exposure) that was previously offered.

Finally, we are already working on partnerships and planning for Small Business Forum, which we'll be hosting in the late spring. See what we did last year for an idea of what's to come: http://milehighbiz.org/smallbizweek
